Railroad

The Madison area is served by Burlington Northern Railroad twice weekly and unit trains are available.

Airport

The Madison City Airport has one 5,000 foot asphalt runway. Total load bearing capacity is 25,000 pounds. The airport has air ambulance service available on demand.

Commercial Airport: Sioux Falls Regional Airport, Joe Foss Field, is 50 miles away.

Local Transportation

East Dakota Transit was organized for the purpose of continuing to serve the needs of ECCO, Community Counseling, and Inter-Lakes Community Action. The ridership has grown to include the general public, children going to school, and children going to daycare providers. The cost is $1.50 per ride. If you are 60 or older, your donation is appreciated. The service area is Lake County for medical reasons and otherwise within a three mile radius of the Madison city limits. The bus is equipped with wheelchair lifts.
